FPT, VIETTEL, FOXCONN, SAMSUNG: Bridge between business and knowledge at ICTU

In globalization and rapid technological development, equipping students with practical knowledge has become a top priority for educational institutions. At University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU), inviting experts from big corporations such as FPT, Viettel, Foxconn, and Samsung to teach has brought invaluable value. They teach theory combined with practice and focus on imparting knowledge to students that can be applied to future work. According to a Ministry of Information and Communication report, Vietnam’s demand for human resources in information technology and digital industry is about 150,000 engineers per year, but currently only meets 40-50%. In particular, FPT Software has been a major employer for many years, with a recruitment growth rate of about 25%. 2023 FPT Software recruited over 12,000 new employees, contributing to FPT’s goal of recruiting one million information technology (IT) experts by 2035.
Sharing practical experiences from the market

When standing in the lecture hall, in addition to sharing theoretical knowledge, experts will bring practical stories of success and failure in their careers. These lessons are very beneficial, helping students visualize the real working environment that awaits them in the future. Students can listen to specific situations, from handling crises to developing a product from the initial idea to launching it on the market and reaching consumers. This helps students grasp professional knowledge and develop soft skills such as critical thinking, teamwork ability, and flexibility at work.
According to a survey by the Center for Human Resource Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information in Ho Chi Minh City (2022), 11.2% of businesses said that students’ majors were unsuitable for their jobs, and 41.6% of businesses assessed that university graduates lacked soft skills. Therefore, the presence of experts from large corporations solves the problem of lack of soft skills and practical experience and creates a dynamic learning environment that allows students to interact, exchange and learn directly from their predecessors. Through presentations, seminars, and open discussions, students can broaden their horizons about the profession they pursue. Interacting with experts also helps them build a professional network, which will be a great advantage in their job search after graduation. Thanks to that, students are equipped with knowledge and more confident in facing the challenges of an increasingly competitive labor market.
Creating a lively and interactive classroom
Lectures from experts become more lively and engaging thanks to real-life situations. Students are not only listeners but also directly involved in the problem-solving process. Students are exposed to situations and face real-life problems posed by experts. You will exchange, discuss, and present solutions to experts and argue to defend your opinions. With practical experience and a realistic perspective, experts will analyze, comment on, and evaluate students’ opinions to unify and determine the most appropriate solution to the problem.

In addition to imparting professional knowledge, experts also pay special attention to developing essential soft skills for students. Interpersonal skills, time management, and leadership help students feel more confident when entering the job market. Through interactive activities and simulated situations, students learn how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and plan their work scientifically. They also have the opportunity to practice leadership skills, from assigning tasks in groups to motivating members. This combination of professional knowledge and soft skills will equip students with a solid foundation, helping them stand out in a competitive working environment.
Sharing is motivation
Sharing experiences helps students learn and creates opportunities for experts to continue learning and improving themselves. The teacher-student relationship becomes closer when both sides participate in the knowledge exchange process. In this environment, students acquire theoretical knowledge and apply it to practice through specific situations, forming critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In turn, experts also receive value from learners. They impart their experiences and listen to new ideas and perspectives from the younger generation. These perspectives can help them broaden their horizons and update new trends in the industry, thereby promoting creativity and innovation in their work. This sharing creates a learning environment where each person has their role and value, making the process of knowledge sharing a strong driving force for common development. Both students and experts feel they are part of a continuous learning journey, where interaction and experience sharing become a bridge between theory and practice, between the old and new generations. The participation of leading experts in teaching is a harmonious combination of theory and practice, creating a rich learning environment for students. In the future, ICTU will continue to invite experts from many large corporations to bring valuable opportunities to students, helping them to enter the profession confidently and firmly. With these efforts, we are gradually building a generation of human resources who are good at their profession and have a wealth of experience, ready to face the challenges in an increasingly competitive world of work.
