New academic year 2018 – 2019 begins for ICTU students

In the jubilant air of millions of students in the whole country to welcome the new school year, on 30 September, 2018 ICTU solemnly organized the opening of new academic year 2018 – 2019.

Attending the opening ceremony with lecturers and students of ICTU, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang – President of Thai Nguyen University, Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang – Director of Department of Students’ Affairs of Thai Nguyen University, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hoat – Head of Security – Internal Politics Department of Police of Thai Nguyen Province, Ms. Luc Thuy Hang – Principal of Viet Bac High, Mr. Outhay Banavong – First Secretary of Department of Culture and Education – the Embassy of Laos in Vietnam, representatives of Quyet Thang Commune People’s Committee, Vietinbank – Thai Nguyen Branch and representatives of School of Foreign Languages - Thai Nguyen University.

As for ICTU, there were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao – Rector, Dr. Truong Ha Hai – Chairman of University Council, Dr. Vu Duc Thai – Vice Rector, Dr. Do Dinh Cuong – Vice Rector together with lecturers, leaders of functional divisions, faculties, and centers. Especially, the representatives of students of courses and all freshmen attended the event.

The overview of the ceremony

The academic year 2018 – 2019 is an important milestone for the university’s 17th anniversary. During the 17 years of construction and development, the generations of lecturers and students have made great strides in teaching, learning and scientific research and have achieved great achievements.

In the opening speech of the new academic year, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao has identified the overall plan of the 2018 – 2019 academic year based on the following key perspectives: continuing to innovate, applying advanced management and governance systems for tertiary education; Promoting the application of information technology to management; promoting international cooperation, cooperation with schools, institutes, and enterprises; Focusing on fostering staff, supplementing material foundations, meeting the requirements of ensuring the quality of education and training; Enhancing the education of ideology, ethics, life skills, behavioral culture in the university, creating conditions for students to study and develop at ICTU. Dr. Nguyen Van Tao also expects all staffs, lecturers and students to strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and renovate their minds, contribute their creativity and wisdom to perform well the main tasks of the academic year to contribute to the building and sustainable development of ICTU and contributing to society.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang pointed out that the university environment has many advantages for students to receive new skills and tools of the digital era, and help them be ready to welcome the opportunities and challenges before the revolution of technology 4.0. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang committed Thai Nguyen University will together with ICTU bring information and communication technology into a strong and unique field of Thai Nguyen University in the new context.

In the joyful atmosphere of the ceremony, ICTU has received greeting flowers of units and organizations in the area. At the ceremony, ICTU also presented certificates of merit and awards to students of high achievements in the academic year 2017-2018 year.

At the ceremony, on behalf of more than 900 K17 freshmen, student Ta Huyen Nhi, K17B e-commerce class delivered a speech expressing the honor of being an ICTU student and demonstrating her determination not to stop striving to study and practice to achieve the best performance, promote the tradition of the students.

Ending the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao on behalf of the ICTU’s leadership received the congratulatory flowers from a representative of freshmen. Certainly the cheerful atmosphere on the opening day will be the motivation for the new students to complete the next stage of learning in the shared home of ICTU.
