Institute of Applied Science and Technology

1. History of formation and development

The Institute of Applied Science and Technology – the University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) was established under Resolution No. 16/NQ-HDT of the ICTU Council dated August 04, 2023. Its mandate encompasses researching, developing, and disseminating scientific and technological products in information technology, engineering and digital technique, economic and digital management, and multimedia communication. The Institute is dedicated to fulfilling the digital transformation imperatives of governmental ministries, sectors, local administrations, and enterprises, with a strategic vision of evolving into a distinguished scientific and technological entity that significantly contributes to advancing the University’s quality and standing in the realm of digital technology application.

2. Functions and Missions

Functions:

  • Conducting scientific research, development, application, and transfer of research and technological results in the fields of information technology, engineering and digital technique, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication;
  • Proposing and participating in the selection, deployment, and organization of the implementation of scientific and technological topics, tasks, and projects at various levels and in related research areas in information technology, engineering and digital technique, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication;
  • Providing consultancy and R&D services in the fields of information technology, engineering and digital technique, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication, as well as advice on economic and social policies;
  • Implementing training programs to enhance research capabilities, innovation, and entrepreneurship and provide technology transfer and knowledge training for individuals and organizations in need;
  • Collaborating with agencies, organizations, and businesses in the field of research and development, and technology application to carry out cooperative activities such as technology development, application, transfer, direct investment, joint ventures, and scientific and technological services;
  • Collaborating with international organizations and foreign countries on research and development, technology transfer, direct investment, and the provision of scientific and technological services;
  • Organizing and implementing scientific, technological, and other service tasks that comply with legal regulations.

Missions:

  • Executing research topics, tasks, and projects in Research and Development (R&D) and Technology Transfer within the fields of information technology, digital technology, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication as assigned by Thai Nguyen University and ICTU;
  • Collaborating with functional units within the University to carry out tasks related to business incubation, entrepreneurship, and innovative initiatives within the institution;
  • Developing service activities aligned with the functions and tasks of the Institute related to Research and Development (R&D) and Technology Transfer in the fields of information technology, digital technology, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication, as well as economic and social aspects
