ICTU held opening ceremony of new academic year 2014 – 2015
In the morning of 19 October, 2014, University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) held a solemn opening ceremony of the new academic year 2014 – 2015. The ceremony was held in the joyful atmosphere and excitement in harmony with the atmosphere of students nationwide in welcoming new school year.
Attending the opening ceremony, as for Thai Nguyen University (TNU), there were Prof. Dr. Dang Kim Vui – Party Secretary, President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Viet Khanh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President; Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Huu Cong, Vice President; Dr. Dang Van Minh – Vice President; and leaders of Departments, Offices and Centers.
As for the invited guests, there were Dr. Outhay Banavong – Headmaster of Vientiane – Hanoi Friendship Vocational and Technical College, Lao; Commander. Do Van Nguyen – Vice Head of Division of Internal Political Security under Thai Nguyen Provincial Security; Mr. Vu Cong Dinh – Chairman of People Committee of Quyet Thang Commune, along with representatives of agencies, departments and enterprises in the province.
As for ICTU, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Viet Binh – Secretary of Party Committee, Rector of ICTU; the teachers in University Board; the leaders of divisions, faculties, departments, centers, and head teachers. Especially, there was the presence of nearly 1,200 undergraduate students of cohort 13 and more than 200 students with high-achievements in learning and youth movements in academic year 2013-2014.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Viet Binh – Secretary of Party Committee, Rector of ICTU reported important results that ICTU has achieved after 13 years of development and growth. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Viet Binh asserted that to gain these results, there have been directions, guidance and supports of the ministries, central agencies and localities, Thai Nguyen University and member units, the strong and effective collaboration of leading institutions and research institutes in the field of ICT, automation technology, along with the effective effort of University Board and of all university officials.
Assoc. Prof. Pham Viet Binh also stressed: “The academic year 2014-2015 is very important in the process of implementing Resolutions of the Political Bureau, Central Committee on the development of science and technology, promotion of the ICT application, and in basic innovation in education and training to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization of the country. This is also the year that all staff, lecturers and students of ICTU focus on building the university to basically complete the model of an electronic university.”
During the ceremony, a student representative of cohort 13 addressed the feelings and thoughts when becoming a student of ICTU, and expressed the determination to learn and self-practice of all freshmen.
The opening ceremony took place in the warm and exciting atmosphere together with special performance by students of ICTU.
