University of Information and Communication Technology: Strategic Collaboration to Establish the Vietnam Digital Film Studio

A press conference was recently held at the Military Broadcasting Center to introduce the 3D animated film “Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet” and to mark the signing of a strategic partnership between University of Information and Communication Technology – Thai Nguyen University (ICTU) and Cineplus for the establishment of the Vietnam Digital Film Studio.

Thai Nguyen has emerged as a pioneer in digital transformation, aiming to build a “Green and Happy Thai Nguyen.” Under the direct guidance of Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, ICTU has initiated the Vietnam Digital Film Studio Project. This initiative represents a significant breakthrough in leveraging technology and culture to drive economic development and lay the foundation for a local knowledge-based economy.
At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phùng Trung Nghĩa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of ICTU, and Mr. Ha Anh Son, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cineplus, officially signed the agreement to establish the Vietnam Digital Film Studio.

The press conference and the signing Ceremony coincided with the recent issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by General Secretary To Lam regarding the breakthroughs in scientific and technological development, innovation, and digital transformation. The resolution highlights key objectives, including the advancement of digital culture, preservation of national identity, and enhancement of Vietnam’s cultural and social values. The Vietnam Digital Film Studio Project and the 3D animated film “Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet” are concrete contributions toward achieving these goals.

Through the pilot model of the Digital Film Studio, ICTU students have the opportunity to engage in the creation of market-oriented products and participate in large-scale projects, including corporate media productions, theatrical films, and high-quality series.
The 3D animated film “Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet”, inspired by To Hoai’s renowned novel Adventures of a Cricket, will kick off the Digital Film Studio’s project series. The film promises to deliver vibrant artistic expressions through impressive visual effects and imagery deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.
ICTU students played a crucial role in the film’s production, contributing to graphic design, 3D modeling, and social media promotion. The signing of the strategic partnership between Cineplus and ICTU marks a significant step toward building resources for high-tech film projects centered on cultural and historical themes.
