Kyungpook National University, South Korea strengthens ties with ICTU

On the afternoon of August 30, 2018, the delegation from Kyungpook National University, South Korea including Prof. Soon Ki Jung – Vice President of Kyungpook National University (KNU); Prof. Nakhoon Baek – Dean of School of Computer Science and Engineering; Prof. Dong-Kyun Kim – Head of Global Software Convergence Department together with delegation from Hung Vuong University (HVU) led by Dr. Do Tung, Vice Rector, paid a working visit to University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU). Welcoming and working with two delegations, there were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao – Rector, Dr. Vu Duc Thai – Vice Rector and representatives of ICTU leaders and departments and faculties.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao made a speech to welcome the visit and work of KNU and introduced the development strategy of ICTU, and highly appreciated the KNU’s strengths in connecting and cooperating with businesses and believed that the mutual future cooperation will bring about the development for both two universities. Dr. Nguyen Van Tao also expected the two institutions to cooperate in many fields including cooperative training of universities at graduate level and higher levels, student exchange program, experience exchange among lecturers from both sides, sharing experiences on the development of high quality training programs. Moreover, on the spirit of cooperation, KNU could supports good students, faculty members from ICTU to study and research at KNU.

An overview of the meeting

At the meeting, after the representatives of the two universities make brief introductions of each institution. The two sides exchanged and mutually agreed issues related to their training specialization, training options and finance of the joint training project in Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering which the two institutions had been making. The working visit and mutual agreements marked a new turning point in the relationship between universities, opened up opportunities for cooperation and raised the quality of training in the current trend.

During the meeting, ICTU, KNU and HVU also proposed some promising ideas which three institutions can collaborate together.

At the end of the working session, KNU delegation had an exchange meeting with K17 students of ICTU. At the exchange meeting, the delegation introduced some KNU basic information to the K17 students, and answered questions of students about the training program, job opportunities and some Korean culture, cuisine features.
