Kyungpook National University (KNU), Republic of Korea, launched Student Recruitment Promotion Program at ICTU

On 5 November 2025, Thai Nguyen University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) had the honour of welcoming a delegation from Kyungpook National University (KNU), Republic of Korea, as part of the strategic cooperation between the two universities.

The KNU delegation was led by Prof. Song Seokmin, Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), accompanied by program coordinators in charge of international cooperation. Receiving the delegation on behalf of ICTU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Trung Nghia – Rector, along with leaders of Division of Science, Technology & International Cooperation, Institute of International Training, nearly 100 ICTU students from the 3+1 twinning training program, students from Dao Duy Tu High School and Edison High School, and many fresh graduates interested in KNU’s Master’s program.

KNU delegates visit ICTU’s facilities and the GIC-E Centre – KNU’s first overseas international admissions centre.

As part of the program, the KNU delegation toured ICTU’s modern facilities, including the GIC-E Centre, the first overseas international student admissions centre established by KNU, inaugurated at ICTU in September 2025. The centre marks a significant milestone in KNU’s internationalization efforts, supported by a global network of more than 500 partner institutions.

Notably, KNU currently ranks 3rd in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, recognizing its significant contributions to all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The partnership between KNU and ICTU reflects a strategic vision for training and developing high-quality human resources to meet the demands of globalization and digital transformation.

During the meeting, KNU representatives provided an overview of the university, twinning training programs, student exchange opportunities, Master’s and Doctoral scholarships, as well as summer schools and international exchange programs available to ICTU students. Students and high-school pupils had the opportunity to participate in direct 1-to-1 consultations with the KNU delegation regarding study conditions, learning environments and career prospects in the Republic of Korea.

The program not only provided ICTU students and high-school pupils with practical information about studying abroad and international scholarships, but also opened many promising directions for deepening cooperation in training, research and academic exchange between ICTU and KNU in the future – affirming ICTU’s growing prestige and position within the global higher-education cooperation network.
