ICTU Inaugurates Samsung Innovation Campus – Expanding High-Tech Workforce Training Capacity for Thai Nguyen

On August 13, 2026, the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) was officially inaugurated and put into operation at Thai Nguyen University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU), Thai Nguyen University. The event marked a new development in cooperation among the Government, the University, and industry, with the aim of creating an environment for training, hands-on practice, and high-tech human resource development in Thai Nguyen.
The establishment of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) at ICTU is particularly significant as Thai Nguyen Province is accelerating the development of human resources in information technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. Under the project’s orientation, SIC-ICTU is expected to become an important hub for training human resources in AI, IoT, Big Data, and semiconductors in the province, thereby further strengthening ICTU’s role in research, education, and the provision of high-tech human resources for the locality.
The Foundation for Establishing Samsung SIC at ICTU
ICTU is expected to reach an enrollment of 15,000 learners in 2026, with 32 undergraduate programs and five postgraduate majors. Of these, at least 14 technology and engineering programs are capable of directly adopting or integrating courses and training modules from the Samsung Innovation Campus.

The University has implemented its semiconductor training program since 2023 and has continued to strengthen training in Artificial Intelligence since 2024. Together with its system of institutes and centers supporting education, research, innovation, and industry cooperation, these provide the foundation for SIC to be rapidly and effectively integrated into the University’s training and research activities.
A Training Space Connected with a Real-World Technology Environment

The Samsung Innovation Campus at ICTU covers a total area of nearly 1,000 square meters and is designed as an integrated environment for training, hands-on practice, teamwork, project development, and industry engagement.
This design demonstrates that the Samsung Innovation Campus is not merely a new system of classrooms but is intended to provide a comprehensive learning environment where students can study, practice, exchange ideas, conduct research, and develop projects within the University.
Expanding Learning and Career Development Opportunities for Students

In 2026 alone, the Samsung Innovation Campus Program at ICTU is expected to train 394 students in key areas including Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data, and semiconductor technology. Of these, 199 students will participate in the AI program, while 80 students will receive training through two semiconductor-related programs.
A highlight of the semiconductor training is its focus on the application of Digital Twins technology, which enables the simulation of equipment, processes, operational environments, and production scenarios in a digital environment. This gives students opportunities to experience a practical environment more closely aligned with industry, become familiar with technologies while still at university, and shorten the time needed to adapt when entering the labor market.
In addition to specialized knowledge, students will have opportunities to engage with industry experts, participate in seminars, real-world projects, and research and innovation activities, while also expanding their connections to internship and recruitment opportunities.
Creating Further Momentum to Enhance the Quality of Education at ICTU
The official operation of the Samsung Innovation Campus provides an additional foundation for ICTU to continue innovating its training methods toward closer alignment with the practical needs of industry.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Trung Nghia, Rector of ICTU, the Samsung Innovation Campus is not only a new facility but also the starting point for a training model in which enterprises participate directly in the process of developing human resources. Students are given access to technologies currently used by enterprises, practice with modern infrastructure, work with experts, and participate in real-world projects. This also reflects the philosophy of “training connected with the technology ecosystem” that ICTU is pursuing.

The presence of Samsung SIC also marks a shift from individual cooperation activities toward an “enterprise within the university” model, in which enterprises participate in infrastructure investment and provide support for training programs, learning materials, experts, skills orientation, as well as connections to internships and recruitment.
Contributing to the Development of a High-Tech Workforce Ecosystem in Thai Nguyen
In the coming period, ICTU plans to utilize SIC for regular academic programs, supplementary training, reskilling programs, research, and innovation projects, while gradually expanding its infrastructure, learning materials, and programs to other member institutions of Thai Nguyen University.

With the combination of ICTU’s existing training capacity, Samsung’s modern technological infrastructure, and the strategic guidance and coordinating role of Thai Nguyen Province, Samsung Innovation Campus is expected to become an important link in the local high-tech workforce development chain—from foundational training, hands-on practice, and research to internships, recruitment, and skills enhancement.
The official operation of the Samsung Innovation Campus at ICTU not only provides students with an additional modern learning environment but also creates a further foundation for the University to enhance the quality of education, strengthen industry engagement, and make practical contributions to Thai Nguyen Province’s strategy for developing high-tech human resources.
