ICTU kicks off Samsung Innovation Campus 2026, advancing high-quality AI and semiconductor talent development
On May 22, 2026, Thai Nguyen University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) held the Cooperation Signing Ceremony and Kick-off Event for the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) 2026 Program. The event was attended by leaders of Thai Nguyen Province, Thai Nguyen University, representatives of Samsung Electronics Vietnam, Letuin Edu Vietnam Co., Ltd., as well as a large number of ICTU lecturers and students.

The event marked an important milestone in the cooperation between ICTU and Samsung Electronics Vietnam to promote the development of high-quality human resources in strategic fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, Big Data, and digital technologies.

The Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) is Samsung’s global technology talent development program, currently implemented in more than 32 countries worldwide. In Vietnam, the program has increasingly demonstrated its strong appeal to young people who are passionate about technology and innovation.
In 2026, SIC attracted more than 7,000 student applications nationwide. Following a rigorous selection process, only approximately 2,200 students were admitted to the program. At ICTU alone, nearly 600 students registered, with 340 students successfully selected—more than double the number of the previous year. This achievement reflects the growing competitiveness, learning spirit, and technological aspirations of ICTU students.

A distinctive feature of SIC lies not only in its scale and competitiveness but also in its industry-oriented training model. The program is designed based on the principle of “real learning – real practice – real technology,” enabling students to gain direct access to emerging technologies, participate in project-based learning, and gradually develop innovative thinking in a modern technological environment.
Through the program, students are equipped with professional knowledge, technological skills, and a global mindset—qualities that are becoming increasingly essential in the context of digital transformation and the development of high-tech industries. Notably, 2026 marks the first year that Samsung has incorporated semiconductor training into the SIC program in Vietnam, opening opportunities for students to gain early exposure to a field that is being prioritized by the Government and major technology corporations.
More than a short-term training initiative, SIC is also regarded as a collaborative model connecting enterprises, universities, and local authorities in the strategy for developing high-quality technology talent. As the lead institution implementing SIC in Thai Nguyen Province, ICTU is gradually affirming its position as a regional center for technology education closely linked with industry and innovation.
Notably, Thai Nguyen Province assigned Thai Nguyen University to implement the Samsung Innovation Campus Project and establish the SIC Innovation Center. Subsequently, Thai Nguyen University selected ICTU as the lead institution responsible for implementing the program and designated ICTU as the location for the Samsung Innovation Campus Lab (SIC Lab).

To date, ICTU’s designation as the only university in Northern Vietnam selected by Samsung Electronics Vietnam to host an SIC Center is considered a significant milestone, demonstrating the confidence of one of the world’s leading technology corporations in the University’s educational quality, technological ecosystem, and industry engagement capacity.
According to the plan, Samsung Electronics Vietnam officially commenced the construction of the Samsung Innovation Campus Lab (SIC Lab) at ICTU on May 21, 2026. Upon completion, the facility will serve as the venue for SIC training courses in AI, semiconductors, and digital technologies, while also becoming a modern environment for learning, research, and technological practice for ICTU students and students across Thai Nguyen University.

The Center is envisioned as a hub connecting the University, industry, and innovation activities, where students can learn from experts, access emerging technologies, participate in practical projects, and cultivate innovative thinking within the university environment.
The establishment of the Samsung Innovation Campus Lab (SIC Lab) at ICTU is expected not only to enhance the University’s capacity in high-tech education and training but also to promote the innovation ecosystem in Thai Nguyen Province. It is anticipated to contribute significantly to the development of high-quality human resources for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region as well as the country as a whole in the current era of rapid digital transformation.
