ICTU & IDTI – A decade of remarkable cooperation

Since 2015, the partnership between ICTU and the International Development and Technical Institute (IDTI), USA, has grown steadily, marking proud achievements across various fields. This relationship has not only expanded opportunities for academic and cultural exchange but also laid a solid foundation for the international integration of faculty, students, and the university in the era of globalisation.

A Cultural Bridge between Vietnam and the United States

Over the past decade, ICTU has served as a bridge between Vietnamese and American cultures, helping to promote and share the values of local traditions. Through IDTI’s initiatives, nearly 20 American students have come to study and experience Vietnamese culture at ICTU. During their time at the university, these students had the opportunity to learn Vietnamese, wear the traditional áo dài (Vietnamese long dress), enjoy local cuisine, and explore distinctive regional festivals.

These cultural experiences not only deepened the American students’ understanding of Vietnamese culture and people but also fostered mutual understanding, built connections, and cultivated lasting international friendships.

Enhancing Academic Quality

In addition to cultural exchange, IDTI has made significant contributions to improving training quality and academic standards at ICTU. Over the years of the partnership, three international workshops were held (in 2016, 2023, and 2025), bringing together nearly 20 experts from leading U.S. universities such as the University of Arizona and the University of Wisconsin, as well as major technology corporations like IBM.

The 2025 workshop featured three distinguished experts: Mr. Mark Nelson – Director of IDTI; Dr. Matt Gibson – President of the Wisconsin International Academy & Greater Chicago International Academy; and Mr. Feridoon Yusefzadeh – Learning Skills Advisor at IBM Talent.

Over five days (July 28 – August 1, 2025), these experts delivered practical training on topics such as:

  • Applying the GROW model in training and skill development
  • Effective English writing techniques for academic, business, and everyday contexts
  • English presentation skills
  • Designing media projects with tangible, real-world impact for students

Through these workshops, ICTU’s faculty and students gained access to modern teaching and learning methods, enhanced their research capabilities, and developed practical skills to prepare them for academic and professional opportunities in an international environment.

A Ten-Year Milestone and a Vision for the Future

The decade-long cooperation between ICTU and IDTI stands as a clear testament to the effectiveness of internationalisation strategies in education. Building on these achievements, the two institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2025–2030 period, adding new areas of cooperation and expanding the scope of activities.

In the coming years, ICTU and IDTI will continue to promote student and faculty exchanges, organise more specialised academic workshops, and explore collaborative projects in technology, education, and innovation.

ICTU and IDTI look toward a future of comprehensive and sustainable cooperation

The enduring partnership between ICTU and IDTI over the past ten years serves as a powerful source of inspiration and a strong foundation for both sides to work toward a future of comprehensive, sustainable cooperation, sharing educational values of global significance.
