On the afternoon of January 23, 2025, University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) organized a gathering to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake with international students studying at the university.
Attending the event were Dr. Vu Duc Thai – Vice Rector of the University, Mr. Hoang Van Thanh – Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Dai Tu District, along with representatives from various faculties and divisions. The highlight of the event was the presence of 14 international students, most of whom are from Laos, who chose to stay in Vietnam to experience the festive atmosphere of Tet.
Dr. Vu Duc Thai – Vice Rector of the University, extended his best wishes to all international students on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. He emphasized that Tet is a traditional and unique cultural feature of Vietnam, offering an opportunity for family reunions, sharing joy, and embracing hope for the new spring season.
The gathering became even more heartwarming when international students received red envelopes (Li Xi) with the ICTU logo and special gifts from the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association: Sticky rice cakes (Bánh chưng) and Vietnamese lean pork paste (Giò lụa) – traditional dishes that capture the essence of the Vietnamese Tet holiday.
Since 2013, ICTU has become a trusted destination for nearly 500 international students, with Laotian students accounting for 80%. The university continuously strives to build a high-quality international learning environment through comprehensive support policies, including 60-100% tuition fee reductions for formal students, the homestay program, modern international dormitories, and a variety of cultural and sports exchange activities.
ICTU’s contributions to promoting international affairs were recognized with a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee for outstanding achievements in Vietnam-Laos relations during the 2019-2024 period.
