ICTU delegation successfully conducted a work visit to Cambodia

The delegation of University of Information and Communications Technology (ICTU) led by Dr. Vu Duc Thai, Vice Rector, took place successfully in the capital city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

On November 6-7, 2024, the ICTU delegation attended the annual conference of ASEAN-IVO (ICT Virtual Organization) held at the Cambodian Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. ASEAN-IVO is an international organization focusing on building a cooperative network between research institutes and educational institutions specializing in Information and Communications Technology in the ASEAN region supported by NICT (National Institute of Information & Communications Technology), Japan.

Dr. Tran Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Applications of ICTU, was honored to be selected as one of two reports from Vietnam to present the project proposal “Transforming Cervical Cancer Diagnosis in ASEAN with AI-Powered Telecytology Screening and Training System.” Each ASEAN country is only allowed to approve two reports. The forum is a great opportunity for scientists from universities and research institutes to seek cooperation opportunities and share experiences in international projects in ICT. It is also an opportunity for ICTU to share scholarship opportunities for international IT programs for students from ASEAN countries.

On November 8, 2024, the ICTU delegation and Prof. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Chairman of the State Council of Professors in IT and member of the ICTU Council, worked with the General Department of Vocational Training, Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia (DGTVET, MLVT). Dr. Heng Sideth, Director General of DGTVET, solemnly welcomed the delegation. DGTVET currently has 37 member schools across Cambodia, and it has cooperated with ICTU since 2019. The delegation discussed cooperation opportunities between the two institutions and shared scholarship opportunities for Cambodian students to study at ICTU. In addition, Prof. Nguyen Thanh Thuy also proposed ideas for cooperation, connection, and support for DGTVET in the coming time.
