ICTU strengthens ties with Korean partners
From 21 to 25 August 2023, an ICTU delegation led by Dr. Vu Duc Thai – Vice Rector paid a working visit to some Korean partners in South Korea. During the visit, ICTU discussed some collaboration contents and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
On the first day of the visit, the ICTU delegation had a very productive meeting with the National Center of Excellence in Software, College of Software and Business Administration under Kyonggi University. The two parties mutually agreed on some practical cooperative contents, including student mobility and visiting scholar programs in software and AI applications and scholarly activities such as courses, seminars, training, conferences, and symposiums organized by either of the parties. The two institutions signed an MOU to lay a legal basis for future cooperation. The visit to the National Center of Excellence in Software was one of the extended practical cooperative activities sourced from Kyonggi University’s visit to ICTU in 2022.

On 25 August, an official meeting between Kyungpook National University (KNU) and the ICTU delegation was solemnly held at KNU. The president of KNU, Prof. Won-wha Hong as well as KNU representatives (Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Office of International Affairs) took part in the meeting and gave the ICTU delegation a warm welcome. The two parties discussed and agreed on the revision of the MOU, the student exchange program, the acceptance of the agreement for the academic year 2022 – 2023, and the preparatory activities to welcome students of the twinning undergraduate program coming to KNU for the final year in September 2023. KNU and ICTU have been operating the twinning program based on 3 + 1 model, which is attracting more and more Vietnamese students to this program. Continuing the ICTU visit to KNU in 2018, this second visit to KNU confirmed the fruitful collaboration and enhanced trust between the two institutions over the years.

In the afternoon, both the ICTU delegation and KNU representatives had a quick visit and meeting with WINITECH Company which provides several technological solutions, such as Smart Public Safety Consulting, System
Smart Transportation, and Smart Water. As informed by the representative of WINITECH Company, the company has been implementing the Consulting Smart City Disaster Safety System in Danang province since 2017. The company has a strategy to expand its business in Vietnam in the future and has a demand for human resources in ICT, especially in Software Engineering. The two parties discussed potential cooperation contents and expected to sign an agreement document soon for mutual benefit.
A brief meeting with WINITECH Company
During the visit to Korean partners, the ICTU delegation had a chance to experience Korean culture and life which helped to enrich the cultural understanding of the participants. It is expected that starting from the preliminary working results, ICTU and Korean partners will gain more successful collaborative outcomes.
